Responsibilities Include


  • Responsible for implementing the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) at several clinic sites throughout the county as directed by the Sr. Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor.
  • Responsible for the secure collection and/ or access to records containing social security numbers.
  • Will assess anthropometric and dietary data to determine client s eligibility for the WIC program in accordance with policies of the State WIC program and regulations stated in DHM-150-24.
  • Maintains records to substantiate risk.
  • Conducts client nutrition goal setting and provides nutrition counseling to WIC participants.
  • Documents services in WIC system (FL WISE) and in the WIC administrative file using SOAP charting method.
  • Discusses client s progress with other professionals.
  • Provides referrals to other health care and social service programs.
  • Coordinates services with other CHD programs, including immunizations, primary care, Healthy Start, etc.
  • Evaluates WIC children immunization records and performs voter s registration activities as needed.
  • Develops, monitors, evaluates and revises nutrition care plans for individual clients at nutritional risk.
  • Monitors and follows protocols for nutrition assessment and follows up for high risk WIC participants.
  • Refers nutrition counseling (first or second contact) for medically high risk to licensed nutritionist.
  • Completes monthly reports as needed.
  • Participates in breastfeeding promotion (via one-on-one education or outreach) and participates in WIC outreach events, as needed.
  • Completes all required forms and reports such as Employee Activity Reports, attendance and leave records, travel expenses, etc. by the required deadlines.
  • Participates in the preparation and selection of information materials, including secondary nutrition education resources, for use in the WIC nutrition program and for various community groups.
  • Participates periodically in WIC and other health surveys as required.
  • Provides technical assistance on program policies and current nutrition information to CHD staff.
  • Attends required CHD meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and within the realm of the Classification Specifications of a Nutrition Educator.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
