11/17/2022General Description The Senior Planner performs professional planning activities involving maintaining and updating the Comprehensive Plan, reviews proposed development for consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code and conducts a variety of planning studies.
The position coordinates activities with County Departments, other local governments, and State, regional and Federal agencies.
The employee also represents the Department before citizen groups, State and other agencies, County committees, the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepares updates of the Comprehensive Plan, reviews proposed land use changes and text amendments and reviews changes to the Land Development Code and related and/or supportive documentsReviews proposed development plans and monitors development activity on an ongoing basisPerforms specialized research and analysis in areas of land use, transportation, public facility planning and financing and other planning-related issuesRepresents the Director in meetings and before the publicPerforms other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Master's Degree in PlanningTwo years' professional planning experienceORBachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional PlanningFour years' professional planning experienceORBachelor's Degree in any other related fieldSix years' professional planning experienceFor Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree, required experience will be reduced by two years with certification by the American Institute of Certified PlannersALL CANDIDATESExperience with GIS and AutoCAD (Preferred)Valid State of Florida Driver's License with clean driving historyAny combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job Supplemental Information Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Essential Functions:
Ability to organize and analyze written and graphic data and to evaluate alternative solutions for consistency with existing County ordinances and policies.

Position consists mostly of sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing in an office environment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
The person in this position needs to be able to frequently move about inside the office to access files, documents and drawings, personnel, office machinery, etc.
Employee frequently positions self in order to retrieve maps, drawings and documents from storage in low, confined areas and in high, precarious places.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
The person in this position frequently communicates with the Board, other County employees, contractors and the public at large regarding planning, development and zoning.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to perceive, inspect, assess, and compare data, including graphically (maps).
Occasionally moves boxes, files, and/or large maps and drawing weighing up to 15 pounds.
The position primarily operates in an indoor, office environment.
Employee is subject to exposure to dust.

VacationFull-time employees accrue vacation of up to 96 hours per year and the accrual will increase depending their length of service with the County.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
